6th August 2000 - Update

Apologies news watchers - Again a long gap between updates. Anyway here are the highlights since last time.

Walking - This has been perfected to the point that Olympic speed sprints can now occur whenever mum and dad are not looking or the garden gate is open.

Teeth - New teeth seem now to arrive daily and Charlotte likes to try them out on anything going.(Food, Furniture, Daddy).

Talking - not much news on this one yet. She is now making sounds which sometimes over enthusiastic parents and grand parents take to be words. However I doubt that these could be scientifically verified. She can however understand a lot. Specifically she understands no to mean - Yes, It is both mummies and daddies most fervent wish that you carry on doing whatever you want.

28th May 2000 - New tooth seen

Over 3 months since the first two arrived, the third tooth makes an appearance. This shy individual has now appeared on the upper jaw, so hopefully allowing a good bite on things put into Charlottes mouth (Stones, dirt, daddies fingers, etc).

28th May 2000 -News Update

Due to technical difficulties, there has been a dearth of news - so here are the highlights since the last one.

Walking - Still having problems with this one, although she can stand up unaided for at least 3 seconds. However she has perfected ramming her baby walker into furniture, Falling onto hard and/or sharp objects and grabbing anything less than 2 foot off the ground, the more expensive and delicate the better. She can also, when allowed to, handle going up stairs. Unfortunately the present downward method is to start crawling, fall off the step and hope daddy is there to catch her before she hits the bottom.

Telephones - She still cannot understand why mummy and daddy keep talking into those strange objects. However in an effort to humour us, she now copies us by talking into any phone-like object. Do not believe anyone who says imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Talking - Again still mastering this one. However the range of noises has increased. They now include an infectious giggle and her impression of a strangled cat pulling its claws down a blackboard.

1st Birthday - Yes Charlotte is now 1. A select guest list attended the party in Tenby, Wales, where Charlotte watched the blowing out of the candle ceremony then eagerly participated in the stuffing of the cake ceremony. She is now going through a mid-toddle life crisis.

5th Feb 2000 - Charlotte perfects the art of moving forward!.

After literally months of unsuccessful experiments, forward crawling has been achieved so adding to rolling and going backward. The proud parents are celebrating by installing a stair gate and buying a video cabinet!

5th Feb 2000 - First tooth seen

Late this night the first tooth was identified on the lower gum. Fingers and other delicate objects are not recommended to be placed near Charlotte's mouth.

27th Feb 2000 - Current Status

Two teeth are know present, forcing Charlotte to endure tooth brushing. The crawling is coming on leaps and bounds (well not literally). She can now climb into her toy basket. Unfortunately she has not perfected climbing out. Also cupboards are a constant fascination. Unfortunately she does not believe in anything being inside them. So be warned, if we visit move anything embarrassing to the second shelf!. New noises include ba. She is also fascinated by mirrors, doing winks and come on smiles to the gorgeous child she can see in the reflection.

27th October 2001

Has it really been that long since I last updated this page! Anyway Charlotte is now turning out to be a proper little girl. Toilet training is progressing with various successes (No 1's are usually ok. No 2's are not so good). Charlotte's vocabulary grows every day and you can almost get a good conversation out of her (as long as its about sweets, going out or playing games). She even seems to have her first boyfriend (Joseph at Nursery) We not sure how serious it is but apparently he does a mean see-saw. Anyway Daddy has a new toy. A digital camera.

These are the edited highlights of charlottes life so far..

Learning how to roll on the floor so opening whole new areas of exploration possibilities. The video being one of specific interest, however any paper on the floor can be subjected to the 3-stage test. Rustle, Suck, Rip.

Learning how to move backwards, so adding another degree of movement. Usual results in backing into a corner with hilarious consequences.

Being able to sit up on her own, with only a few occasional forward dives.

Starting to use her vocal chords. Sounds so far heard are:

The acceptance of solid food. Some even goes in the mouth.

The christening - Unfortunately now forever connected with the monster pooh incident.

International Traveller - due to her tour of Stockholm (and unintentional tour of Copenhagen airport).
